Korea: 21 sites built, Naju Namseok and others

The KLES and ENVELOPS agrivoltaics track record in Korea, built and operated since 2019. Village plants and a university pilot in Hadong, Goseong, Hamyang, Haman, Namhae, Geochang and Jinju (Gyeongsangnam-do), Ulju (Ulsan), Taean (Chungcheongnam-do) and Naju (Jeollanam-do) make up 20 agrivoltaic sites, which together with one rooftop array at the KLES headquarters come to 21 sites and about 2.1 MW; two of the sites have since been decommissioned. The plants were delivered under the agrivoltaic support programmes of Korea South-East Power, Korea East-West Power and KEPCO, commissioned through the Korea Energy Foundation and the Large & Small Business, Agriculture and Fisheries Cooperation Foundation, and O&M is provided at 16 of them.

The most recent, Naju Namseok No. 1 and 2 (2024), keeps rice farming as it was: at the October 2024 commissioning and harvest event a combine harvested the rice beneath the panels. ENVELOPS builds on this construction record to provide agrivoltaic-specific design, crop planning and data operation (SAMS) for Korean village and municipal projects.
