ESG · Ethics and human rights

Honest work, and respect for people.

Our ethics and human rights charters underpin how ENVELOPS works. Employees, suppliers, clients and the communities where we work can all report a concern, anonymously if they wish.

Ethics charter

Keeping the law and our ethics is the only way to earn trust.

As a company building a sustainable future in which energy, farming and water work as one cycle, ENVELOPS makes honesty and transparency the standard for everything it does.

  1. 1

We keep the law and our principles.

We comply with the laws of every country we work in and with international norms, and do business fairly and transparently.

  2. 2

    We do not tolerate corruption.

We neither give nor take bribes, improper requests, money, gifts or hospitality in any form, and we record every step of every transaction.

  3. 3

We respect our clients and suppliers.

We provide honest information and safe products and services, and deal fairly with suppliers as equal partners.

  4. 4

    We respect people.

We respect the human rights and diversity of our people, and keep a safe, healthy workplace free of discrimination.

  5. 5

We take responsibility for the environment and communities.

We protect the environment, grow together with the residents and farmers where we work, and contribute to sustainable development.

  6. 6

    We work honestly.

We look after company assets and information with care, and act so that personal and company interests never conflict.

Anti-corruption

No gifts, no favours, no facilitation payments.

Our code of ethics and anti-corruption guidelines set the standard every employee keeps. Four points matter most.

Conflicts of interest
Where a conflict of interest is possible, such as work with a business in which we or our family have an interest, we declare it in advance and step away from that work.
Gifts and hospitality
We do not ask for or accept money, hospitality, favours or gifts connected with our work. Anything received unavoidably is returned at once.
Bribery and improper requests
In work with public officials and public bodies, including state power companies, we follow the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act. Overseas we follow local anti-corruption law and the Foreign Bribery Prevention Act, and we make no facilitation payments.
Transparent accounts
Every transaction is recorded against evidence. Slush funds, false records and off-book transactions are prohibited, and public grant funds are never used outside their purpose.

Human rights charter

Everyone has equal dignity.

Guided by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the ILO core conventions and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, we protect the rights of our people, clients, suppliers and communities.

  1. 1 Respect for human rights
  2. 2 No discrimination
  3. 3 No forced or child labour
  4. 4 Freedom of association and collective bargaining
  5. 5 Fair working conditions
  6. 6 A safe and healthy workplace
  7. 7 No harassment or sexual harassment
  8. 8 Privacy and personal data
  9. 9 Human rights in the supply chain
  10. 10 Communities and the right to a healthy environment
  11. 11 Client and consumer rights
  12. 12 Grievance and remedy
  13. 13 Human rights due diligence

10. Communities and the right to a healthy environment

We respect the livelihoods, land and property rights and culture of residents and farmers wherever we work, and give them full information and a voice before a project goes ahead.

Reporting channel

If something concerns you, tell us.

Employees, suppliers, clients and local residents can all report, and all are protected by the same procedure.

Report anonymously

The online form collects no email address or account details and is open 24 hours a day. Named reports, and reports in person or in writing, are also accepted.

  • Breaches of the code of ethics and other misconduct
  • Money, hospitality or improper favours
  • Harassment, sexual harassment or discrimination
  • Health and safety risks and breaches of law
  • Accounting fraud or misuse of public grant funds
  • Leaks of trade secrets or personal data
  • Unfair demands on suppliers and other unfair dealing
  • Any other breach of law or company rules

Tell us as much as you know about when, where, who and what, and include any evidence.

How a report is handled

  1. Received

Logged within 3 days, and the reporter is told if they left contact details.

  2. Investigation opened

Investigation starts within 7 days of receipt.

  3. Investigation

Completed within 30 days on objective evidence. The person reported is heard, and outside experts are brought in where needed.

Protection for reporters

  • Nobody may reveal a reporter's identity, or anything that would point to it, without their consent, and no one may try to identify an anonymous reporter.
  • Reporting, or helping an investigation, never leads to dismissal, discipline, transfer, unfair appraisal or ostracism, and never to cancelled or reduced business for a supplier.
  • Anyone who suffers or fears retaliation can ask for protection, and the company acts within 14 days, for example by restoring their position or separating the people involved.
  • If a report concerns the person who handles reports or the CEO, that person is excluded and an alternate recipient handles it and reports to the board (auditor).
  • Records are kept for five years after a case closes and then destroyed beyond recovery. Reports made knowing they are false, or for an improper purpose, are not protected.
